Q1: What maximum traffic is this counter able to stand? A1: The main feature of the ActualCounter is the storage of detail information of every visit that demands sizeable capacity of disk's space, therefore the recommended daily traffic must not exceed 1500 hits. In case of the excess of this limit every other visits during the day will be ignored by script to avoid overflow of databases. Q2: What should I put in "Path" and "URL" on the setup.php page? A2: ActualCounter will detect values in "Path" and "URL" fields automatically. In case of the incorrect definition or not definition of some parameters, fill the respective fields yourself. In "Path" field you should enter full path to place of ActualCounter on server (for example, "/www/mydomain.com/acounter/"). In "URL" field you should enter full url of ActualCounter (for example, "http://www.mydomain.com/acounter/"). Q3: How start up the ActualCounter under PHP 4.1.0 and above? A3: Last versions of PHP (version 4.1.0 and above) do not establish by default a variable "register_globals" in "on". You must set this variable in "on" to use ActualCounter scripts. Q4: What value does the counter show on my page? A4: Top value is the number of hits during all the time. Medium value is the number of hits today. Bottom value is the number of hits online now. Q5: What is "Guest login to view" used for? A5: The guest login allows only to view statistics for all pages and do not allows to change the settings of ActualCounter. Q6: What is the difference between guest's entrance from administrator's entrance? A6: Administrator's entrance is valid for any scripts ("setup.php", "admin.php" or "view.php"). Guest's entrance is valid only for the view of statistics ("view.php"). Q7: What is "URL of Page", "Default Page" and "Individual HTML code" in account's settings? A7: "URL of Page" is full address of the page on which you want to place HTML code of ActualCounter a counter (for example, "http://www.mydomain.com/mysite/home.html"). If page from a field "URL of Page" may be browsed pointed your browser only to URL of folder which contain this page (for example, "http://www.mydomain.com/mysite/") then it is page called by default and you should check "Default Page" box. To track pages which do not have a individual name (for example: one script dynamically create some pages from templates) you can use "Individual HTML code". It is generated for each page individually and containes unique id of page. You should use this code only for this page. Skip "URL of Page" and "Default Page" fields if you use "Individual HTML code". Q8: Do I need to put the counter code on all the pages i want to track or just the home page? A8: Yes, it is necessary to put HTML-code on all your pages what you want to track. Q9: How to connect the page which in a frame to the ActualCounter? A9: If you want to place HTML code of ActualCounter on page in a frame - in the field "URL of Page" you must enter correct URL of this page (which in a frame). Q10: If I use the "update" files, do I have to enter all the tracked pages again or will all my information be saved? A10: All your information will be saved. You need only to copy update files.
